ANNIE WOOD -
Annie Wood is a highly esteemed dance choreographer and educator with over twenty years of professional experience in the field. She has been the founder and Artistic Director of the Breaking Bounds Summer Dance Intensive in Toronto, Canada for over fifteen years. In addition, she produces Raise The Barre Dance Teachers Workshop and Master Class dance events and performances across Canada. Annie is known for her passionate dedication to the development of dance education.
Ms. Wood holds a Masters degree in Dance Studies from York University. She also holds a Bachelor of Education, specializing in Dance Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. Ms. Wood has served as a faculty member for Contemporary Jazz Dance at many professional institutions including: Sheridan College, York University, George Brown Dance, Ryerson University, The Etobicoke School of the Arts and The Randolph Academy for Performing Arts. She has been commissioned to choreograph pieces for Rosedale Heights School for the Arts, Cawthra Park Secondary School, Unionville Secondary School, The Quinte Ballet School and The Alberta Ballet School. She has taught master classes throughout North America alongside dance icon: Mia Michaels and other noteworthy choreographers, including: Talia Favia, Tyce Diorio, Benoit Swan Pouffer, A.C. Ciulla, Chet Walker, Bradley Rapier and Jeffrey Amsden to name a few. Annie is an active adjudicator on the dance competition circuit. She has worked for American Dance Awards, Dance Masters of America, and several other reputable competitions and festivals throughout North America. Recently, Ms. Wood was featured as an educator and choreographer in TVO’s reality television documentary, Unsung: Behind the Glee. Currently, Annie serves as dance director at the prestigious independent girls school, Branksome Hall.
Commercial Choreography includes: HIgh School Musical, Grease, A Tribute to Fosse, West Side Story, Rent, Footloose, UrineTown- The Musical and Anne of Green Gables, Across the Universe. Won ‘Best Choreographer in Canada’ for her choreography with ESA’s performance company, SPLASH at Show Choir Canada National Championships. Ms. Wood served two seasons (2007 & 2008) as Artistic Director for Saskatchewan’s provincial educational dance project: Dare to Dance. Other work includes: choreography for the NBA Raptors, Carnival Cruise Lines and several live industrial events. Annie has worked with celebrities from around the world including: Michael Buble, Jon Secada, M2M, Nelly Furtado, Jack Soul, Shawn Desman, Carlos Morgan and many more. She also has extensive experience in theatre, film and television.
Ms. Wood is an expert in the art of movement. She is an extremely committed and passionate artist and teacher. She is an excellent motivator and her energy is highly contagious.
Jimmy Arguello -
During his childhood, Jimmy was captured by music. His Latin culture influence and creative rhythm was what impulse his body to move with such grace. At the age of 12, his first dance instructor Barbara Lorenzo, whom carried him under her guidance and visualized his path, discovered Jimmy’s talent. Trained by great instructors such as Ray Young, Scott Benson, and Judy Ann Bassin; he then began training in jazz, tap, hip-hop, ballet and lyrical at Dance Gallery Studios.
Jimmy has left his compassion, vision, artistic image with American Dance Alliance as a dance instructor/choreographer/creative director and now President. He has trained dancers of all levels in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and more. He focuses on ways to direct dancers to the right terminologies and the beauty of the Arts. In his path of faith, patience, courage and believing in himself, he has managed to work with amazing choreographers including Wade Robson, Keith Young, Maria Torrez, Travis Payne, Dave Scott, Scotty Nguyen, Nakul Dev Mahajan, Cris Judd and more. He has performed live in the Latin Grammys and the Latin Billboard Awards with Olga Tañon, David Bisbal, Gloria Trevi and Fanny Lu.
In 2007, he was named one of the top 10 male dancers to compete on Fox's “So You Think You Can Dance”. Jimmy filmed as a principal dancer in the Wayans Brothers' movie “Dance Flick”. He was on tour as a Dancer and Dance Captain with the Grammy Composer/Singer A.R Rahman in the Jai Ho World Tour. He had the privilege to choreograph for Ricky Martin's Premio Lo Nuestro performance in Miami and for Lucie Arnaz performance on the Latin Hall of Fame. He has assisted Keith and Sharon Young with artist Prince Royce. He then merged into working on Rock of Ages as one of the assistant choreographers with Mia Michaels, working alongside Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Julianne Hough and Mary J. Blige.
You would have seen him perform with Melissa Gorga from New Jersey Housewives on Bravo. His most recent endeavors were performing with Illuminate on the Latin Billboards, Dancing with the Stars for the Rock of Ages promo and assisting Mia Michaels on a Jordache Commercial with Heidi Klum. Jimmy was booked as an ensemble in the Miami Production Broadway show “In the Heights “and Performed Live on 365 BET Awards with Jordin Sparks. He was Assistant Choreographer to Kevin and Marcel Wilson, with the Ringling Brothers, "The Greatest Show on Earth". Jimmy was last seen on stage as an Actor/Dancer on West Side Story at The Actors Playhouse. In addition to his success as a professional dancer/choreographer, He is founder of ArguelloProDance, a company that offers Master Workshops, Private Lessons, Dance Intensives and Dance Competitions. He has sponsored over 30 young artists to attend pre-professional summer dance intensives at Alvin Ailey. Jimmy strives to connect community programs through movement, performances, respect and love in the Fine Arts.
